We’re jumping the gun on this post, since the month doesn’t end until tomorrow. Why? Uh, because this post is ready to go and we don’t have anything else finished for today yet. Work and other shit interfered with our grand plans for a Sunday post.  We might still get another one up later today, but for now, feast your eyes on the barrage of metal headed our direction.

What we do with these installments of METAL IN THE FORGE is collect news blurbs and press releases we’ve seen over the last 30 days (or in this case, the last 27 days) about forthcoming new albums from bands we know and like (including updates about releases we’ve included in previous installments of this series), or from bands that look interesting, even though we don’t know them yet. And in this post, we cut and paste the announcements and compile them in alphabetical order.

This isn’t a cumulative list, so be sure to check the Category link called “Forthcoming New Albums” on the right side of this page to see forecasted releases we reported in previous installments. This month’s list begins right after the jump. Look for your favorite bands, or get intrigued about some new ones. There’s some awesome shit on the way.

  1. A live Mastodon DVD may hold me over for a little while, but I’m seriously over-ready for a new studio album.

    • I’m with you there. Three years passed between Blood Mountain and Crack the Skye, but on the other hand, they did have a Facebook post back in January which said they were in the process of writing songs for the next studio release.

  2. Three Blut Aus Nord albums and one from Anaal Nathrakh, perhaps this year won’t suck as much as I thought it might 🙂

  3. I can almost guarantee you that some of the albums on that list WILL be in my top ten of the year. Namely Anaal Nathrakh and Becoming The Archetype. And probably Decapitated.

    With an outside chance for the new Communic and Moonsorrow albums too.

    And quite possibly Primordial.

  4. Siiiicck list. Even more stoked because school was cancelled today. Do I have reason to smoke victory bowls and play drums all day? Fuck yeah I do!

    Still, do you feel bands pump out material faster then they should? Do they sacrafice quality for quantity? Look at Born of osiris’s latest album.. Everything sounded the SAME. A higher place was dissapointing IMO.

    Stoked for Decapitated though, got rocked at their show!

    • Decapitated seems to be high on everyone’s list – certainly high on mine. I’ll probably listen to the new Born of Osiris out of mild curiosity, but I’ve been losing interest over time. Rushing new music may indeed be part of the problem. And hey, enjoy the day off. I wish someone would cancel my job for a day or two. 🙂

  5. The new Nathrakh song is a beautiful monstrosity. If all the other songs on the new album are of this quality, it will be just as good as the last one. Nice title, too.

  6. A song from State:Chaos’ debut Chaos||Pain||Despair:
