Dec 022011

November is done, and the countdown begins to the end of 2011 and he beginning of the New Year. We’ve been so focused this week on the year behind us, since 2011 Listmania is now in full swing, that we almost forgot that there is a future, and it will be filled with metal.

So, here’s the deal:  In these METAL IN THE FORGE posts, we collect news blurbs and press releases we’ve seen over the last month (November) about forthcoming new albums from bands we know and like (including occasional updates about releases we’ve included in previous installments of this series), or from bands that look interesting, even though we don’t know their music yet. In this series, we cut and paste those announcements and compile them in alphabetical order.

Remember — THIS ISN’T A CUMULATIVE LIST. If we found out about a new forthcoming album before November, we wrote about it in previous installments of this series. So, be sure to check the Category link called “Forthcoming Albums” on the right side of this page to see forecasted releases we reported earlier.

This month’s list begins right after the jump. As usual, this list is half-assed rather than comprehensive. So, feel free to leave Comments and tell all of us what we missed when we put this list together. Let us know about albums on the way that  you’re stoked about!

  1. I love everything but could care less about the Bleeding Through and Norma Jean announcements.

  2. Can you change the Emmure one from:

“a good portion of November in New York City writing material”

    to:

“about ten minutes patching together laboured breakdowns and lumpen one-note riffs”

    : please?

Just for the sake of accuracy.

  3. Yay! Wormed, Slayer, Obscura, Naglfar, Death and Autopsy! 2012 is gonna be awesome… except for, uh, you know… the world ending.

  4. Wrathprayer – “The Sun of Moloch, The Sublimation of Sulphur’s Essence, Which Spawned Death and Life” for late December or early January

    http://nuclearwarnowproductions.bandcamp.com/album/the-sun-of-moloch-the-sublimation-of-sulphurs-essence-which-spawns-death-and-life

This will erase all thoughts of Emmure from your mind…and most of your higher cognitive functions as well

  5. Fuck yes new King Giant!

  6. Gorod?

    • Why yes. In fact, yesterday, the studio where the recording is being done posted this note on their FB page: “Now mixing : Gorod. The new album, to be released early next year, is fantastic, you guys should prepare yourselves for a blaaaast !”

  7. Oh crap! I forgot Abigail Williams and I think I saw Unleashed but it didn’t totally click with me that this was THE Unleashed.

  8. Might be abit pointless, but they deserve the mention: Wintersun! Yeah, I know the wait has been loooooooooooooong. The latest news from them are 4.5.2011, telling that the mixing process has begun, but that Jari is still in need of better equipment to fully get into it.

Maybe it’s just me getting my hopes up in vain, but I want to be uncharacteristically optimistic about this one. Bet we’ll see some updates about how the album is coming together in the following months.
