NCS Best of 2015 graphic

Andy Synn alleges that he still intends to deliver his annual list of favorite songs, but with that exception, I think our 2015 edition of LISTMANIA has finally drawn to a close. Unless I’ve forgotten something, in which case we’ll have to supplement the series with whatever I’ve forgotten.  We’re not running a very well-oiled machine here.

But however rusty it may be, we’re damned sure running a list-making machine here. Our 2015 series of lists was more extensive than in any previous year — we posted more than 50 lists (!) with accompanying commentary this time.

As usual, some of these were lists that appeared at “big platform” web sites and print magazines, and others were prepared by our own cadre of writers.  But once again the largest group of list posts came from NCS readers, band members, and assorted other guests, including fellow metal bloggers/writers. Plus, we’ve also received many lists in reader comments on THIS POST.

In this article I’m collecting links to all of the 2015 year-end lists that we published, divided into categories and listed within each category in the order of their appearance. For people who are looking for the best metal that 2015 had to offer, I think these lists provide a tremendous resource.

Thanks again to everyone who contributed to 2015 LISTMANIA and to everyone who made time to read what we pulled together.

P.S. About that not-so-well-oiled-machine that we run here, if we posted your list and you don’t see it below, it’s because I forgot to tag it with “Listmania 2015” when I posted it. Just leave a comment below or e-mail me with the words “You Fucking Moron” in the subject line, and I’ll fix the oversight.

  1. What a compendium @.@ This could probably last me through all of 2016 as well 😉

  2. The following is my current result from all the posted lists… It figures that I will be checking out albums well into February or even March.
It also shows that the combined power of NCS posts is capable of impressive amounts of album recommendations. Thank you all.

  3. The lack of Inculter – Persisting Devolution on any of these year end list saddens me. I think I looked at all of them, but maybe I missed a few.

I still never saw Inculter on any lists and that’s a badass record. My favorite of the year.

Maybe I should contribute my year end list? 🙂

  4. Batushka’s Litourgiya didn’t get enough attention thanks to being released in December. Definitely makes it into my top 10 for the year.
