jonny-pettersson

(Jonny Pettersson is a busy man, with leading roles in such groups as Wombbath, Ashcloud, Just Before Dawn, and Ursinne, as well as his excellent new solo project Henry Kane. Fortunately, he found time to graciously accept our invitation to share a year-end list of favorite releases.)

brutally-deceased-satanic-corpse

1. Brutally Deceased – Satanic Corpse (Death metal)

This album had me blown away. It’s the perfect mix of buzzsaw death metal and blasting brutality.

vanhelgd-temple-of-phobos

This is a band that has gone from clarity to clarity, carving their own path creating greatness.

Bombs of Hades is a band that can’t do much wrong in my book. Death metal with tons of punk attitude.

Centinex-Doomsday Rituals

5. Centinex – Doomsday Rituals (Death metal)

Since the reformation of Centinex they have taken the path of mid-tempo death, straying away from the path they were on before the breakup, and they do it so right!

Swedish death metal from America. This album screams of high quality music and is a punch in the face from start to finish.

Fourth album with one of the best German death metal bands. This is their most dynamic release so far.

interment-scent-of-the-buried

9. Interment – Scent of the Buried (Death metal)

This is as filthy as it gets, pure old school perfection.

Asphyx-Incomng Death

10. Asphyx – Incoming Death (Death metal)

The Dutch death gods are back with a new album, death metal the way it is meant to be.
