On Friday of this week, the 28th of July, two New York based black metal bands whose music we’ve covered here before — Teloch Vovin and Viserion — will release a new split entitled The Iron Age of Kali Yuga, available on CD and digital formats from both bands and featuring artwork by Elena Vasilaki. On Friday night they’ll also participate in a listening party for the songs at Duff’s Brooklyn.

A pair of songs from the split, one from each band, have already surfaced, but what we bring you today is a full stream of the entire split — essentially one new EP from each group. They will serve as a fine introduction to these bands for people who haven’t encountered their music before, and for existing fans it provides a portrait of where their music has arrived in the current day (though it will undoubtedly continue to evolve).

As usual, we’ll share our own thoughts about the split as a preview of the listening experience, along with some insights from the bands themselves, and we’ll take them in alphabetical order. Continue reading »

The Spring Equinox is upon us, at the moment this post appears on our site. At 12:15 pm Eastern time, the sun comes directly in line with the equator; on this day the Northern and Southern hemispheres will experience an equal amount of daylight and night; from this moment the days in the North will grow longer until the Summer Solstice in June. The beginning of spring has been marked in the tilt of the Earth’s axis, and Teloch Vovin have marked it through the release of a tenth Psalm Ov Khaos.

Two years ago, on the Winter Solstice of 2015, this occult New York black metal band embarked on an extended musical project, devoted to the electronic and ambient textures and ritualistic elements of their creativity. Beginning then, and continuing on each quarterly change of the seasons since then, they’ve released a new Psalm Ov Khaos. The one we’re presenting today — “Casus Belli” — is the tenth of those. One more remains, and it will be included in a physical edition collecting all 11 Psalms, which is projected for release sometime next year. Continue reading »

Teloch Vovin-Further Down the Tunnel

Teloch Vovin are a theistic black metal band based in Long Island, New York, who have described their music as an expression of their spiritual beliefs, the changes they have experienced through their worship of Khaotic divinities, and the powers that speak through them. As the band have explained:

“The name Teloch Vovin was chosen as it represents everything that we attain to, everything we worship and work towards. “Teloch” meaning “Death” — “Vovin” meaning “Dragon”. It represents the duality of the concept of Khaos which calls to us. It is our Worship ov Death!!!”

On the fall equinox this year (September 23), they will release a new five-track EP entitled Further Down the Tunnel, which follows two previous EPs and a 2014 live CDR, Atah Gebur Le-Olam Sathanas. Today we bring you the EP’s final track, “Adoration/Vexation”. Continue reading »
