Hellthrasher digital sampler

Our LISTMANIA 2015 series isn’t over yet. In fact, we have more year-end lists coming your way over the next two weeks from our own staff, from old friends, and from invited musicians. And I’ll also continue rolling out my list of 2015’s Most Infectious Extreme Metal Songs. All of that will resume on Monday. But having said that, we’re also looking ahead to what 2016 will bring us.

I spent a couple of hours yesterday assembling a list of 2016 releases (by band name) that I’m interested in, most of which are expected during the first quarter of the year. This isn’t a comprehensive list by any means — I have no doubt I’ve forgotten or overlooked a lot of things — but it’s a massive list nonetheless.

I also wanted to use this post as a vehicle for asking readers to leave Comments identifying releases that you’re interested in, especially if you don’t see the names on my list. So please do that!

You know I don’t like to post anything at NCS without some music, so I’m including some here. It’s a sampler of music from 2015 releases by Hellthrasher Productions that was launched on Bandcamp yesterday. Lots of good listening on here, and it’s “name your price” at Bandcamp. Enjoy the songs while you peruse the list below the player.

  1. Somewhat out of touch with things these days, but two I know of and am really looking forward to are :-

    Conan – Revengeance
Slabdragger – Rise of the Dawncrusher

Given how quickly they turned around “Dim and Slime Ridden Kingdoms” after “Gastromonicon”, perhaps Mollusca will grace us with more Slugdge?

  2. Neurosis has just finished mastering I remember from their FB posts.
And oh, I don’t know if it’s even worth saying… Tool?

Wishlist: Ancestors, Sleep, Man’s Gin, Gojira, and after skimming my library, I would literally kill a guy for a new Zolle record.

  3. Khthoniik Cerviiks!

  4. Devourer is releasing a new album in Q2 2016. http://devourer.se

  5. Defeated Sanity

  6. Black Table.

I’ve heard a good chunk of their new material live on three occasions. It’ll definitely be a Top 10 AOTY in 2016 for me.

  7. Shit… I was going to try and play it cool this year.
No dice. Not gonna happen. Already way to eager about whats on this list.
And someone mentioned Sacriphyx and Funebrarum as possibilities? Shit, one can only hope!

  8. COBALT!!!
