Little more than a month ago we had the pleasure of premiering the jaw-dropping first single off Revelation In Purity, the debut album from the U.S. death metal band Imperishable, which is set for an August 29 release by Everlasting Spew Records. Today we’re happy to premiere another high-octane song from the album, this one aptly named “Spewing Retribution“.
If you haven’t already been introduced to these marauders, Imperishable started in 2020 as the brainchild of guitarist/vocalist Brian Kingsland (from Nile and Enthean) and bassist Alex Rush (Olkoth, Enthean). They later completed the recording lineup with the addition of famed drummer Derek Roddy (of Hate Eternal, Malevolent Creation, and too many other bands to name).

When we featured that first single, “Oath of Disgust“, we emphasized the music’s full-blown fury and berserk energies but also wrote that “the song proves to be not only aggressive and blistering but also inventively elaborate and technically mind-bending, undeniably savage but also a multi-faceted and relentlessly thrilling escapade (and immediately addictive too).”
“Spewing Retribution” reinforces the impression of a band firing on all jet-fueled cylinders, their mission to get listeners’ adrenaline surging and blood rushing.
Imagine a massive swarm of wolf-sized hornets furiously assaulting a pack of screaming hyenas while automatic weaponry fires into the mass. That might give you an idea of the song’s explosively crazed impact as the band discharge maniacally roiling riffage (dense and buzzing), blazing drums, thunderous bass-lines, and bursts of screaming fretwork.
Imperishable push the bedlam to even greater heights of intensity with unhinged vocal insanity, swaths of searing fretwork, breathtaking percussive outbursts, and a thoroughly berserk guitar solo. The riffs change to include feverishly throbbing sensations; the vocals also change; and the drums bear down into head-moving mode; but the fretwork is still a non-stop spider-fingered spectacle of exhilarating dementia.
The song includes one more solo, anchored by a pulverizing groove, but this one is more serpentine at first, until it spirals up into a fret-melting extravaganza. Yet the greatest extravaganza occurs in the song’s final phase, which combines freaked-out instrumental and vocal mayhem with fanfares of brazen glory.
Revelation In Purity is shaping up to be a big starburst in the night sky of 2025 death metal. It was mixed and mastered by Jamie King, and features ghastly cover art by Nestor Avalos.
Everlasting Spew will release the album on CD, cassette tape, and digital formats, with a vinyl edition expected by early 2026. They recommend it for fans of Hate Eternal, Nile, Olkoth, and Anaal Nathrakh. Find pre-orders at the locations linked below.
