If you’re not smiling already, your day must really be going wrong. How can you not smile at a name like Sadistic Goatmessiah? Oh, for sure, I can imagine some of you shaking your heads even if you’re grinning, dubious about the music that a band with a name like that might devote themselves to. More dubiety might result from the bandmembers’ nom de plumes: Morbid Goatpriest of Lust, Filth and Mayhem (vocals, guitars), Goat Primator (drums), and Goatess of Fire (bass).
But unclench your sphincters, expel your doubts, maybe take your clothes off. As you’ll discover when listening to the song we’re about to premiere, these three demons clearly had a hell of a lot of wicked fun making their debut album Violence, and you should share in their filthy revels without restraint.
The album will be co-released next month by Dying Victims Productions and Fucking Kill Records. Their promotional materials describe the music as “speed metal with Hellhammer / Celtic Frost and Darkthrone influences and an unapologetic punk attitude”, and with a strong taste of Japan’s Sabbat. They also call it “loose and lawless and deliberately raw as hot blood… all reverbed to Hell and back.”
And now let’s get to the song we’re bringing you, a molten dose of speed metal hell named “Stainless Steel“.
The song begins in a way that might make you feel like they’re being stalked by some hell-borne menace: As the drums ritualistically rumble, the notes slowly clang and lurch with a poisonous reverberation. But stalking isn’t really what the song is about. It’s about attacking, and it does so gloriously, creating a vicious delirium of sound.
The riffing feverishly writhes and pulsates; the drums furiously hammer; the dungeons-dwelling vocals combine goblin screams, wild gang cries, and pungent grunts. The music exuberantly spins and swarms, lustful as well as violent, and it quickly infects the reptile brain. (Feel free to yell out the song title along with the band, and to mentally mosh as well.)
You’ll also discover that the song morphs, with the raking and quivering guitars creating a supremely sinister harmony, a prelude to one last orgiastic outburst.
