You’re about to imagine what it would be like to catch fire and cavort with devils, to throw caution to the winds and spin like a tornado of flame while bouncing off demon bodies in Hell’s own mosh pit.
That’s one way of trying to capture the experience of “Death In Salvation,” an absolutely electrifying and evil-minded song off the self-titled debut album of Burning Death, an infernal thrash outfit from Nashville, Tennessee, which is now set for release on December 5th by Caligari Records.

By way of background, our press materials report that the band consists of veterans in the local metal scene — the power-trio of Ethan Rock, Jerry Garner, and Gore — who “came together to create blistering riffs and spew anti-Christian venom with murderous, even genocidal rhetoric towards the divine and faithful alike.”
To do this, they’ve dived into “ancient corridors of ’80s-rooted thrash, drawing from the infernal output of various Teutonic blasphemies – from the Big Three to later gods like Desaster and Nocturnal – as well as early Slayer during their hellish Metal Blade years along with the sword-singing spells of Japan’s Sabbat and diabolic possession of South American legions past and present.”
As a tangible demonstration of what this means, let’s turn to “Death Is Salvation“.
In this song Burning Death immediately seize attention with a wildly roiling riff, piercing in tone and eventually harmonized, interspersed with blasts of brash sound and pounding beats. This creates a tremendously diabolical overture, a burst of sulfurous ecstasy which then leads into even more hellish musical orgies, with drums galloping headlong, the bass lustfully throbbing, and the riffing feverishly twisting, brazenly blazing, and then maniacally skittering.
While the instrumentalists thrash with blades and fire, the vocals viciously expel the vitriolic words in gritty snarls, raw yells, and crazed screams, just as inflamed as the surrounding music but more hateful. And if you want to pump your head like a piston, the song will give you a chance to do that too as the band segue into a highly headbangable segment that’s both coldly vicious and crazed.
Burning Death also return to their orgiastic excesses with a wild guitar solo that rapidly ripples, spirals, and screams. It leads into one last turbocharged, high-voltage burst of evil extravagance.
The album Burning Death includes 8 songs recorded and mixed by Shibby Poole, and mastered by Dead Air Studios, adorned with hellish cover art by Nether Temple Design.
Caligari Records will release the album on CD and digital formats, and pre-orders are available now. After the links we’ve also included the exhilarating first single off the album, “Cold Bite of Steel“.
We’ll also share the news that Burning Death have now expanded from the trio who recorded the album to a quartet, having brought bassist JW into the fold (see the photo below).
