The Eyelessight duo from Pescara, Italy present themselves as manifestations of the name they chose — blindfolded and bloodied, as if their sight had been destroyed by violent events, and their visions must now come from some other means of perception.

The pair have lived together in music since the project’s inception in 2011. The following years brought forth a demo, a live album, a collaborative release with Imber Luminis, and two albums — Mantra per sopravvivere inutilmente (2014) and Athazagorafobia (2018).

Originally released on CD, Athazagorafobia is now receiving vinyl treatment by Talheim Records Germany. The vinyl reissue will occur on December 17th, and it will include two bonus tracks, one of which we’re now premiering with a visualizer video. The song’s name is “Vuota Solitudine“.

Eyelessight have explained what the album represents for them, and it’s worth quoting in full, as an explanation of how and what Eyelessight now see:

A journey within oneself – fragile, raw, and inevitable.

An odyssey through the shadowed corridors of loss, where the echo of abandonment becomes both torment and companion.

It begins with the absence of a loved one, and with it, the slow collapse of everything once taken for granted. Reality strips itself bare, leaving behind only the ghost of what was.

An obsessive nostalgia rises — a fever of memory.

We drown in recollections so vivid they blur the line between remembrance and hallucination. We build entire worlds out of what no longer exists, breathing life into the dead air of yesterday, until we must confront the cruel truth: we are only deceiving ourselves. Nothing returns. Everything has ended.

Then comes the silence — the unbearable solitude of facing life alone, with no one left to mirror our existence.

The present feels hollow, sterile, meaningless.

We wander through it like specters, clinging to fragments of the past, trying to resurrect warmth through the faint light of memory.

And at the end, the final awareness:
those emotions are gone forever.
No heart will ever awaken ours again.
We surrender to the stillness — to the cold comfort of an eternal anhedonia,
where feeling itself becomes a distant dream.

In line with these thoughts, “Vuota Solitudine” is a musical reflection, in the language of depressive post-black metal, of solitude and sorrow, of remembrance and anguish, of pain but also a kind of buoyancy.

Shaded with an ethereal curtain of sound and eventually joined by a moving rhythmic pulse, the song’s opening notes slowly ring out a forlorn and wistful melody, spellbinding in its effects. The music then suddenly soars and sears, magnifying the melody’s emotional intensity, just in time for harrowing screams of torment to join in.

Strummed chords with a gleaming but anguished visage create a bridge, and on the other side the drums race, the riffage gloomily writhes and brightly burns, and the vocals roar and howl in unbridled pain. It’s both an exhilarating and a heart-lacerating experience.

The music does become gentle again, poignantly wistful once more, paving the way toward a wailing (and immediately gripping) guitar melody backed by musing bass notes and vivid beats. Though the vocals remain wrenching, the music transforms and begins to sound both more resilient and more like a remembrance of things lost — although turbulence and torment reign again in the closing phase.

It’s a song packed with memorable melodies in varying shades of emotional darkness, heart-felt in their honesty, as well as a lot of rhythmic dynamism and absolutely shattering vocal intensity.
