Are you tired of your face? Have you reached the point when you don’t even want to look in the mirror? Has the task of trying to mask your horror at daily life just become an exercise in futility? Would you prefer to just erase the slate and start over? Well, you’ve come to the right place, because we have a song for you today that will rip your face right off.
The song in question is “Blood Witchery” and the ripping is performed by the bloodthirsty Munich band Surturian. The track, which is being released today as a single, is the one that closes the band’s new album II – Hessian Spears, which is set for release on March 13th by Crawling Chaos Records. The album follows Surturian’s debut EP, I – The Eyemaster.
The implements of face-ripping that Surturian deploy on this new single include ecstatically squirming and viciously slashing riffage, drums that hammer like fully fueled pistons, vividly nimble (but also bowel-loosening) bass pulsations, and barbarously screaming vocals that come for our throats with fangs bared. It’s fast, it’s furious, it’s a blaze of black/speed metal that gets blood pumping.
In the upper reaches, the guitars brazenly swirl and frenetically skitter. A bit lower they swarm like hornets. For good measure, Surturian intersperse a highly headbangable throb in the midst of some sinister slithering fretwork. The music then unfolds into a jubilantly lusty guitar solo which accelerates into a fret-burning fireworks display. And for further good measure, they double-up the vocals, spawning thoughts of a demon horde who’ve broken through the gates of Hell.
It’s a tremendously exhilarating song and a quickly addictive one, and whatever part of your face it doesn’t rip off, it will blister and melt!
