Demiurgon whip up a storm almost literally with their kind of ferocious, unbridled death metal. Hurtling towards the listener at ridiculous speeds, it stirs up a variety of emotions usually of the violent kind. Mostly though, there is sheer trepidation listening to the forceful nature of their music, and strangely, at the same time an innate sense of awe witnessing the control they have over the entire catastrophic event.”

We don’t usually yield the floor to the oratory of record labels or PR agents when discussing a band’s new music, having a pronounced preference for our own rhetoric, but that paragraph quoted above was too on-point to ignore. It’s from the promotional materials disseminated by Transcending Obscurity Records in support of Demiurgon‘s new album Miasmatic Deathless Chamber, which T.O. will release on September 26th.

How on-point is their description? You probably already know if you’ve heard either of the two advance tracks released from the album so far, but you’ll certainly find out today through our premiere of the third one — “Apoptosi“.

As represented on this new song, Demiurgon‘s music is undeniably fast and violent, but it’s also both monstrously alien and wickedly addictive. The rapidly writhing nature of the riff that opens the song spawns images of enormous Lovecraftian tentacles hideously rippling, lined with mercilessly slashing hooks. The roaring vocals are also monstrous, and the drumming maniacal.

Apart from the blistering speed of the fretwork, Demiurgon have dialed in guitar tones that are gruesome and mutilating, creating sizzling, darting, and weirdly screaming sensations that sound like the feeding frenzies of hungry horrors from a nightmare dimension. And although the penetrating nature of the berserk riffing makes it a dominating force, you’ll also notice dynamic variations in the skull-rattling drumwork and the enormous bass tones.

By the time a guitar solo erupts just past the 4-minute mark, it will come as no surprise that it’s a delirious fret-melter, insanely contorting and spiraling, and a mad thriller to hear.

Well, the whole song is insane — insanely fast, insanely twisted, insanely voracious.

It’s not some kind of shock that these Italians are this good. They’ve been making music under the name Demiurgon since 2014 (their new album is the band’s third full-length), and did so under the name Hatred for more than a dozen years before that. Here are the people who should take a bow:

DEMIURGON:
Stefano Borciani – Voice
Emanuele Otani – Guitars
Dani Benincasa – Guitars
Riccardo Benedini – Bass
Riccardo Valent – Drums

Transcending Obscurity will release Miasmatic Deathless Chamber on vinyl LP, CD, and digital formats, with lots of apparel and other merch options, all of which feature the chilling cover art of Giannis Nakos (Remedy Art Design). T.O. recommends the album for fans of: Hate Eternal, Origin, Depravity, Carnophage, Diabolizer, Unmerciful, Hideous Divinity, and Arborescence of Wrath.

After the links, also be sure to check out the two album tracks already out in the world, “Worldwide Grave” and “Aspiring to Omnipotence“.
