We are rapidly approaching the most metal night of the year, a time when veils will be parted and a cavalcade of deathless fiends will spread mayhem through the human world — or at least we and centuries of our ancestors have so imagined, with thrills and chills galore.
It is thus a very good time for us to share with you a new video from the UK band No Worth of Man which conjures imagery of the band as vampire hunters in a neon-soaked Miami from the ’80s. The song that gets this treatment is “I Defy“, the opening song from the band’s debut album The Killing Streets, which was released last February by Brutal Records.

The song is a hard-charging example of this band’s ferocious but also technically impressive blend of metalcore, thrash, and groove metal.
The music is packed with hooks (or maybe we should say fangs), from the viciously throbbing and savagely slashing riffage to the enormous bass-level body blows and the skull-rattling beats. The riffing also seems to rhythmically spurt blood, to wail in agony, and to swarm like hornets, and the song packs plenty of hard-punching, bone-busting grooves as well.
In front of all that, vocalist Peter Gale comes off like a raging madman, venting a broad range of harrowing roars, lycanthropic howls, and throat-bursting screams, all of which elevate the song’s already blood-rushing energy.

As for the video, it’s a fast-moving blood-spattered spectacle, one that provides a vivid example of No Worth of Man’s stage charisma… at least when they’re not focused on fighting off a blood-sucking fiend. Here are a few words about it from No Worth of Man drummer Gareth Lucas:
In completing this video, we as a band have tried to capture the message that we are pushing with our image; Vampire Hunters in a neon soaked ’80s Miami. When deciding what video to produce to help promote our debut album, The Killing Streets, “I Defy” was the obvious choice. It was the track that defined the sound of No Worth of Man way back when. The video was purposely shot with the ’80s theme in mind, even down to the retro visual approach, which is in stark contrast to the music we create.
NO WORTH OF MAN is:
