What we have for you here today is the advent of the third single from Funeral Altar Epiphanies, the debut album by the Danish death metal group Temple of Scorn. While it’s a debut for this collective, it’s no first start for the band’s members individually. Their resumes include previous participation in these other well-known bands:

Baest
Bloodgutter
Dawn of Demise
Exmortem
Horned Almighty
Invocator
Kampvogn
Sylvatica
The Arcane Order

That list is a good clue that this quintet know what they’re doing. But what have they done together in Temple of Scorn?

Well, to quote Transcending Obscurity Records, which will release the album on November 24th: “Shrouded in darkness and afflicted with rot, the songs both lumber and rampage at will, using the most suitable tactic for maximum aural destruction, always remaining effective”.

As a further answer to the question, of course we have today’s song premiere. Given that the song’s name is “Begotten by the Envenomed“, you would expect… venomous music… and hell yes, that’s what Temple of Scorn deliver.

As the drums clatter and clobber, the dense and distorted riffing surges in vicious roiling waves and attacks with feverish jolts, as the words roar monstrously from awful catacombs. Lower still, the bass throbs and undulates like an even bigger monster.

The poison in the music takes other forms as well, with the lead guitar writhing and whirring as if fatal illness has found its own sound.

But venom isn’t the only thing that flows through the black veins of this music. The riffing rises in agony, and the guitars moan, victimized by the racing infection. The tempo slows, allowing for ruthlessly slugging booms and the spread of rot. But madness comes again as the band accelerate once more.

The variations continue, with a queasily vibrating solo propelling the song to a hideous crescendo in advance of a final episode of bone-smashing cruelty and venomous fevers.

As mentioned, today’s premiere isn’t the first single from the new album. We’re also including streams of the first two.

Taken altogether, these first three advance tracks provide a vivid portrayal of the band’s abundant talents: Temple of Scorn create electrifying and eviscerating death metal savagery, coupled with skull-fracturing thuggery, while also masterfully interweaving blood-congealing episodes of degradation and doom, illness and agony. Horrors and thrills await discerning listeners!

TEMPLE OF SCORN is:
Simon P. Katborg (Horned Almighty, Exmortem) – Vocals
Flemming C. Lund (The Arcane Order, Invocator) – Guitars
Svend E. Karlsson (Baest, Kampvogn) – Guitars
