For this premiere it’s probably best to cut to the chase and then come back and fill in necessary details.

What you’re about to hear is a non-stop storm of wholly engulfing sound, so typhonic in its power and intensity, and so fiery and furious, that it’s guaranteed to get listeners’ blood racing and lungs pumping hard.

Though it flies fast in its combination of gale-force and incendiary intensity, it is also more elaborate than you might be expecting from that preceding paragraph, and so it’s a head-spinner as well as a breath-taker — and it proves to be spellbinding too.

The song’s name is “Soul of Sorrow“, and while strains of melancholy and despair can be heard as the riffing undergoes its manifold changes, this must be a sorrow that rages. And as those changes occur in the jet-fingered conflagrations produced by the intricately layered guitars (some brutally snarling and some gloriously piercing) and soaring keys, the music channels other moods as well.

Among them, the music sounds haughty and imperious, mysterious and momentous, desperate and furious. In keeping with the music’s blown-out intensity, the drumming is furious too, segmented by booming fills and jolting pops (though the guitars dominate the soundscape, the performance by session drummer Eclipse still makes a vital contribution), and the vocals are utterly scorching.

As mentioned above, it is also easy to become spellbound by this storm of fire and ice, to be captivated by its immensity and its daunting grandeur.

Now to back and fill the details:

The song is from the forthcoming third album of Chamber of Mirrors, a band spearheaded by California-based Mortem. Aptly entitled Tales of Blood, it will be released on June 6th by Iron Bonehead Productions, on CD and vinyl LP formats.

The press materials for the album include comparisons to Demonaz-era Immortal and recommend it for fans of Funeral Winds, Tsjuder, Akerbeltz, Cirith Gorgor, and even Judas Iscariot.

Ordering info will be available on the release date via the links below, and below the links you’ll find a stream of the album’s first advance track, “Dominion“.
