The last time we hosted a premiere by Philadelphia’s Necrosexual (damn, have seven years really gone by since then?) we immediately urged people to set aside any reflexive skepticism that might have been spawned by the band’s name, their shock-rock appearance, and the often macabre storytelling within their songs, and instead to dive into their multifaceted musical nastiness with open minds.
Yes, seven years have gone by since then, years that saw Necrosexual release a couple more EPs, a split, and a live album, but no new songs for roughly the last five of those years. As you can see from this post’s title, however, Necrosexual are returning. They have a new album set for release in late February, and its title pretty well sums up the current path of the world, at least as perceived by anyone who reads the daily news: Road To Rubble.
To help introduce the new album, what we have for you today is the premiere of its second single, “The Brimstone Brothel“. But before we get to that one, we have some thoughts about the first one, the aptly named “High Times In Hell” — as well as the same urging expressed in the first paragraph above.

Right away, the rocking drums will get your muscles jumping, and right away the riffing generates an aura of infernal menace and deviant lust, and that riffing simultaneously sets a big visceral hook. The vocals are equally hellish, viciously baying the depraved words like a demon spawn.
The drums also explode in a blasting fury, and the riffage both roils and oozes, becomes feverish and jolting — and of course there’s a guitar solo, one that glories in its swirling and fleet-fingered ecstasies. (Pretty sure they don’t play metal in Hell’s coked-up parties without an anthemic solo like this one.)
Feel free to scream the song’s title right along with frontman The Necrosexual (though maybe just do that in your head so as not to have your neighbors dialing 911).
And now let’s move on to the song we’re premiering today, “The Brimstone Brothel“. Here’s the introduction given to us on behalf of the band:
Welcome to the Devil’s Bordello – a tale of vampiric sluts who feed their immortal hunger on the souls of thirsty men.
Distorted lead bass and gothic keyboards from the Necrosexual arouse a rambunctious atmosphere. While the haunted twin leads of longtime collaborator Anthony “Vigo” Gabriele and session shredder Nick Roskow add a touch of class on guitar.
Rounding out the punk rhythms is Miles Ziskind (Honey, Gladie) who really blasts this banger to climax on drums. Beware, the brimstone brothel!
In this song that gravel-throated lead bass and a skull-snapping beat get their groove on right away, quickly joined by a poisonously blaring riff and scalding, serrated-edge vocals. The grumbling and growling bass quickly takes the lead again, as a prelude to an orgiastic surge of blasting drums, boiling and burning guitars, and wild cries.
In this lusty musical tale the guitar solo quivers and warps while the riffing rapidly thrusts and swarms and the drums pump and hammer. The music also sounds demented and brazen, and it further includes yet another guitar solo that brings the orgy to a crescendo — plus further outbursts of maniacally savage vocals.
Black metal from both the first and second waves… crossover thrash… speed metal… and an overarching air of sex-crazed diabolism… you get tastes of all that in these vibrant first two singles. And that doesn’t exhaust the stylistic twists within the new album.
Road To Rubble was mixed by Steve Roche (Blemish, Pariiah, Serpent Throne etc) and mastered by Arthur Rizk (Power Trip, Blood Incantation, Cavelera Conspiracy), and it features eye-catching cover art by Philadelphia’s Scott R Johnston that’s as wild as the music.
The album will be available on February 27th via the Necrosexual’s webstore on vinyl, CD and digital, and on CD in the UK via the Black Metal Archives Label. See the links below for more info.
