We are told that the name of the Barcelona-based black metal band Fogos was “inspired in the fires that enlighten the path of the dead and their main themes: paganism, nihilism, death and the decay of the human soul.” They began that daunting path of bloodshed and decay with their debut album Corpses and Ashes (2022), and now they continue onward with a new and even more murderous album named Of Wyrm And Men.
On the new album this band’s experienced lineup is augmented with guest appearances by Rider G. Omega from Obsidian Kingdom and our friend J. F. Fiar from Foscor and Jade. It also benefits from professional production, with recording accomplished at Moontower Studios in Spain and mastering by Dan Lowndes at Resonance Sound Studio in New England.
Of Wyrm And Men will be co-released on June 21st by Satanath Records (Georgia) and Poisoned Furrows Records (U.S.), and what we have for you today is the premiere of a stunning album track named “Wyrm“.

Raging madness reigns throughout the song, but while maintaining a furious pace it also spawns fire-bright visions of hellish splendor and sensations of terrible agony.
The vocals are the most thoroughly unhinged aspect of the experience. After an overture voiced in fervent and frightening snarls, the vocals explode in incinerating shrieks of unbridled hostility and fanatical possession — although at times haughty roars also rise up.
Meanwhile, the tremolo’d riffing simultaneously swirls and sears, creating a typhoon-like maelstrom of glittering and gutting guitar harmonies (the dual-guitar interplay really seizes attention). Turbocharged blast-beats and feverishly throbbing bass-lines add to the music’s aura of diabolical violence.
But as noted earlier, the music also both gloriously elevates and also descends in seeming manifestations of hopeless misery, and the drumming also displays dynamic changes — though there really is no chance for any listener to catch a breath as these changes rapidly and fluidly occur.
It’s a heart-hammering experience and a quickly captivating one – as you will now witness:

Croma Lan Ro – drums

Also below we’re including a stream of the tremendously harrowing but also wrenching first single from the album, “Babel“, which is the one that includes a guest vocal appearance by J. F. Fiar (his impassioned singing is a striking addition to a striking song that reveals even more facets of Fogos’ sound than the one we’ve just premiered).
