Obbrobrius is an Italian death metal band founded in 2023 who made made their recording debut with a 2024 album named Daisy Creepy Tales. Following that independent release they signed with Over the Border Records for the release of their sophomore album Usurped, which is now due for discharge on November 6th. As a preview of what lies ahead, we’ll share this precis from the press materials that are circulating:
Far from seeking to convey moral or ideological messages, the band focuses on pure, old-school sonic violence, drawing inspiration from historic pillars such as Benediction, Bolt Thrower, and Malevolent Creation. Their lyrics delve unfiltered into dark and brutal themes: death, destruction, social violence, internal crises, and esotericism.
As a further sign of what lies ahead, today we bring you an eye-catching video for a diabolically savage but highly infectious song off Usurped called “Leviathan’s Cage“.

The lyrics of this song narrate a nightmarish tale, as the protagonists describe their entry into a dark place inhabited by an enormous beast, twice the size of a dragon, “Eyes as red as hell / Teeth and fangs like poles” — a beast they have (perhaps unwittingly) set free.
In the video we get glimpses of the leviathan’s cavernous cage and its reptilian eyes, as well as appropriately red-tinted film of Obbrobrius mounting their musical assault; watching them do it makes an exhilarating song even more electric.
The song itself is a savage, hard-charging, death/thrashing groove monster, and a bit of hellish paradise for headbangers. With a beefy bass and neck-cracking beats providing the drive-train, the riffing viciously gnashes and swarms, and it creates a feverish pulse that gets its hooks in the listener very damned fast.
Gritty and gruesome gutturals provide the horrifying narration; furious drum-fills and bracing rhythmic gallops enhance the song’s pulse-pounding intensity; and each of the band’s two guitarists delivers a solo, the first one supernaturally reptilian and the second one a swirling and screaming piece of fretwork spit-fire.
And yes, heads will bang.
