We heartily welcome the return of the Scottish death metal band Scordatura, whose music we’ve previously described as “a neck-wrecking, gut-churning, bowel-loosening bombardment of jagged riffs, technical twists, and gruesome, glass-gargling gutturals that floats like an atom bomb and stings like a beast,” and as “the kind of brutish and blistering treatment that our pathetic world so richly deserves.”
Six years on from their last album, the ruthlessly punishing Mass Failure, Scordatura have joined forces with Everlasting Spew Records to lead us into oblivion with a new full-length named… Led Into Oblivion… which we’re helping to announce today through the premiere of a video for the record’s brutally bombastic but also razor-sharp title song.

Scordatura have introduced the album themselves, with these words:
We started writing the music for Led Into Oblivion in 2021 knowing what we wanted to refine from previous releases. This is definitely the most focused record we have done to date, we spent a long time arranging the music and lyrics to ensure it is concise and to the point, with any fat stripped away.
Led Into Oblivion explores the idea of humanity slowly marching to its own doom with increasing reliance on technology & artificial intelligence. Our good friend Malcolm Abbou (Heads On Pikes) handled the recording and mixing, with the master being done by Korentin Mens and we got the incredible Paolo Girardi to paint his interpretation of our lyrics, with the finished result being my favourite artwork we have ever done with the amount of depth and detail he has included in it.
It is gratifying to hear in this title song that Scordatura have remained masters of myriad methods of musical destruction. They blast listeners with onslaughts of maniacally enraged vocals, blistering and bludgeoning drumwork, organ-rupturing bass-lines, and the kind of riffing that furiously swarms, maliciously writhes, and slashes like meat-cleavers.
It’s an exhilarating turbocharged attack, one that’s technically impressive while simultaneously being a bone-breaker and a neck-wrecker. The music screams in mad, siren-like pulses and seems to groan in agony too. It inflicts quick stops and starts, brazenly blares as well as frantically skitters, and quickly veers through non-stop changes in rhythmic momentum and both percussive and fretwork patterns.
With music that’s as simultaneously head-spinning and brutalizing as this song, it’s an added treat to see the band-members execute the song (as they execute us), which is what this video serves up:
