Heaven Shall Burn’s new album Veto is one of my “most anticipated” releases of 2013. This morning, the band and its label (Century Media) unveiled the album cover, which, as you can see above, makes use of an eye-catching 1898 painting of Lady Godiva by John Collier.

But that’s not all. They also made available for streaming and free download a song from the album entitled “Land of the Upright Ones”. But you have to work for this. They’ve constructed a puzzle that must be solved before you can hear or download the music. This is what the puzzle looks like:

I’ll tell you this much: it isn’t as simple as just dragging and dropping each stone into those spaces in the same order as you see them. Reversing the order doesn’t work either.

I’ve tried a few other combinations without success, and my fucking day job is now demanding that I stop fooling with this and get ready for something I have to do today that’s going to take me away from NCS for at least half the day.

In other words, I haven’t yet heard the fucking song!!!

I’m sure most of you are going to figure this out much faster than I can, and I also suspect that the solution will appear on the web before too much longer. Either way, leave a comment and let me know what the damned song sounds like!

Go HERE to solve the puzzle and get the song.

Thank you.

  1. Continuation of amazing cover art for Antigone and Deaf to our Prayers. The song sure pays homage to their style, but I’d like to see them push their boundaries on this one, more than on the previous records. Anyways looking forward to this one!

  2. You put the pictures in order, left to right, in the same order they appear in the cover art, left to right. So:

Piece of porch : round medallion from horse bit (bridle?) : little blue shield dealy from horse rein(?) : bit of orange that looks like an ear, which is part of horse blanket : bit o’ naked chick (the one that’s almost all white) : green and purple design from saddle : face of chick : pyramid thing from the distance

Can’t listen to it yet, ‘cuz I’m at work, but I like puzzles.

    • Wait, wait, that might not be right. Turns out it will play something no matter what damn order you put them in. So much for me being clever.

  3. bit of orange that looks like an ear; little blue shield dealy; pyramid thing from the distance; face of chick; bit o’ naked chick (the one that’s almost all white); Piece of porch; green and purple design from saddle; round medallion from horse bit (bridle?)

I just took the words of JC because i’m to lazy to write them myself, but i solved the puzzle in this order.
At least if I got the meaning of JC words correct =)

  4. So each piece of the puzzle is a part of the song itself it would seem. If you press the play button above a piece, it plays that section of the song. If you put them in the wrong order, it plays in that order.

    • So you can either play each piece individually and try to put them in the right order, or just do like Crush says and save yourself the hassle.

  5. great idea to be honest.. and cover art is amazing

  6. Puzzle was pretty easy. All you have to do is listen to the clip and match the end of one clip with the beginning of another. Took me about 7-8 minutes. Sick song though.
