Collected here is news about three new tours that surfaced yesterday.

GWAR is the headliner of this tour, and the rest of the line-up consists of Whitechapel, Iron Reagan, and A Band of Orcs. It’s tough to find a unifying theme for the selection of these bands, other than the fact that the line-up is book-ended by inhuman creatures. But I’ve found that some of the best shows are those in which the combination of bands makes you scratch your head. One band might pull you in, and you might then discover another band you like.

In this case, Whitechapel have kicked my ass every time I’ve seen them and I’m also interested in seeing Iron Reagan and A Band of Orcs (HAIL GZOROTH!). I’ve never gotten into GWAR, though I can’t say I’ve ever given them much of a chance. Maybe that will be my new discovery on this tour. Here’s the schedule:

Katatonia is the headliner of this tour, and the rest of the line-up consists of Cult of Luna, Intronaut, and TesseracT. I haven’t seen an official announcement yet, and so the schedule that has surfaced isn’t complete, but here’s what’s out there now:

This tour doesn’t have the big names or the geographic breadth of the ones discussed above, and perhaps most importantly I can’t attend any of the shows, but I’m including it here anyway because it involves two bands whose music I’ve really been getting into.

Organ Donor are from Richmond, Virginia, and the line-up includes members of Bastard Sapling, Volture, Parasytic, and Battlemaster. They released a demo last year and also have a debut album on the way via Forcefield Records.

Coffin Dust are from Philadelphia, and their latest release is a 2011 EP named Ancient Rites of Buried Evil.

I’ve embedded music from both bands below the tour schedule; both releases featured there are pay-what-you-want downloads at Bandcamp..

7/31- Philadelphia, PA @ Millcreek Tavern
8/1 – New Brunswick, NJ @ Paradise Lost
8/2 – Hartford, CT @ Whitney House
8/3 – Worcester, MA @ Ralph’s
8/4 – Brooklyn, NY @ The Acheron

8/6 – Lexington, KY @ The Side Car
8/7 – Atlanta, GA @ 529
8/8 – Raleigh, NC @ The Maywood

  3. wow, it’s like a contest to see how many cool metal tours can skip right over my zip code, this summer
