Feb 162017

We’ve been following the evolution of the Shadow Woods Metal Fest since before its inaugural appearance in 2015, and have published lively reviews and photos from the first two fests (here and here), thanks to our contributor Kaptain Carbon, who has had a hell of a great time at both of them. The next edition of Shadow Woods Metal Fest shows all signs of being another fantastic event.

With an announcement yesterday, 20 bands (out of nearly 40 that are expected) have now been confirmed for Shadow Woods 3, which will again take place at White Hall, Maryland on September 14-17, 2017 — and we’ve learned that early bird ticket sales are now scheduled to go live on February 17 — tomorrow — at noon Eastern Time. First, take a look at the line-up of performers announced so far:

PANOPTICON – KY/MN (exclusive performance)
Vastum – San Francisco (one of two East Coast performances)

Castle – San Francisco
ZUD – Portland, ME (exclusive performance)

The early bird tickets (which are full Thursday – Sunday passes) will be offered beginning tomorrow at a discount over the regular price and will include non-reserved camping. Here is the ticket link:

A few other important notes, which I’m quoting from the Shadow Woods Metal Fest Facebook page:

** There are NO RESERVED CAMPING AREAS; it is camp where you may in designated areas.

** Cabin bed tickets will be on sale FRIDAY. (The cabins are NOT private; they are bunkhouse summer camp style.)

** Once you buy your ticket you will be able to join a private SWMF FB group. READ THE EMAIL THAT CONFIRMS YOUR TICKET PURCHASE FOR DETAILS.

** You may choose how your tickets are delivered to you: WILL CALL (name at the door only); print at home; or physical tickets that will be mailed to you.

** THE EVENT IS 21 and up!

** The event is NOT BYOB. Do not bring outside alcohol. Beer and wine will be for sale.

** Food vendors will be on site

** Marketplace vendors will be in the HALL as usual. If you are interested in vending email Shadow.Woods.LLC@gmail.com with information and links about what you want to sell.

** Thursday night (Sept 14) will feature an acoustic only stage where several groups will perform in an intimate setting.

** On Friday and Saturday (September 15 and 16), the fest will be in full production with three stages running from noon to midnight each day.

** There are NO BANDS on Sunday. That’s the day you pack up and go home.

  1. I wish I could afford to go to this, lineup is looking great so far. Would definitely be worth it to see Panopticon again though. Amigo the Devil is also one of my favorites, I’ll have to see what I can do to make it happen.
