We are very happy to welcome the return of Saccage from Québec City, a band whose last album Khaos Mortem (their third full-length) woke us up to their talents like the experience of an explosive detonation next door. They followed that 2019 record with a 2022 EP (Charogne), and at last they’re bringing us a new album this year.
Titled Chronophage, it’s set for a CD and digital release by Caligari Records on November 20th, with a vinyl edition expected in December or early January 2027. What we have for you today is the premiere of its second single, “Béton Armé“, a ravaging reminder of the power generated by the band’s fusion of blackened death metal, grindcore, and dark crust.

“Béton Armé” is a brazen, blaring, and beastly barrage. Allowing listeners no time for preparation, the gritty riffing savagely charges and rapidly writhes, viciously chewing and rabidly exulting, accompanied by a heavily rumbling bass and exhilarating drumwork.
The drummer shifts into d-beats and out again without warning, and the guitars churn but also discharge punk riffs that generate a pulsating bray. The grit-choked vocals are utterly ravenous, and the drumming gets ravenous too as it accelerates into blast-beat bedlam. But the drumming also becomes steadier, just in time for the music to turn a darker and bleaker shade, with the guitars seeming to moan and wail in agony.
But Saccage won’t hold themselves back for long, as they continue to clobber, charge, and pulse like an open vein, with the vocalist howling like a wounded but enraged beast.
In short, “Béton Armé” is a thoroughly electrifying song, and a quickly addictive one to. It’s rough and it’s raw; it feels loose, even though its continuing shifts are sharply executed; and it possesses authenticity and immediacy as well as explosive energy.

Chronophage was mixed and mastered by Cody Baresich of Iskra and Hedonist, with the main artwork created by Brad Moore. As described on behalf of Caligari Records, “the band deliver deeply nihilistic and satirical lyrics, dissecting the dystopian, decaying, and time-consuming world we are forced to live through. Desperate music for desperate times – Chronophage is indeed such a soundtrack.”
