Well, North American Wintersun fans may have to wait until early 2014 for Time II, but we won’t have to wait that long to see the band in the flesh. Following up on a short run of 2012 dates in support of Time I, MetalSucks have just announced their sponsorship of a much more extensive Wintersun tour beginning this August. That alone would be hot news, but look who else will be along for that ride:

Fleshgod Apocalypse
Arsis
Starkill

Damn, this is going to be sweet. And maybe extra-sweet, because Wintersun are already hinting at surprises in their set list. Music from Time II maybe?

  1. God fucking damn all americans. I fucking love all of those bands!

  2. Gawd damnit! I love Alaska, but living here makes it seriously difficult to see any bands worth a damn. Seriously, the last decent group to come up here was 3IOB when they were touring for ‘Here Waits Thy Doom’, and the promoters stuck them in a bar that was WAY too small to support a decent sized crowd.

Anyhow, I finally get a chance to go on vacation to the east coast this summer, but no bands I want to see will be within a manageable distance while I’m there. I think I would love to see this tour the most out of all the ones I’ll be missing.

Sorry for the lengthy rant – seeing this bill was the straw that broke the camel’s back for my frustration. To everyone who gets to go, though, I hope you have a blast!

    • Living in San Diego, I normally feel exactly the same way. This tour is thankfully an exception, but every tour expects the San Diego market to have the wherewithal to go to Anaheim or LA to get to a concert. We are constantly skimped on tours, though again, thankfully not on this one.

      • For a city that draws in people from all over the world once every Summer for Comic-Com, you’d think the promoters would know that San Diego has a healthy, young market for metal and heavy acts. This is expecting a bunch of business majors to understand the metal community, though.

  3. Well, that’s pretty stacked

  4. Yeah, yeah…great lineup Im sure

…Did you see this three day fest up in New York…Holy shitsnacks!

    • I think the appropriate response to that is HAIL SATAN. That’s a monstrously potent line-up. If only Brooklyn were a few hours’ drive down I-5.

  5. dammit, skipped again

  6. Hopefully I can get off from work for this. I’ve been waiting to actually see Arsis with Malone.

  7. Yayyy, an Orlando, FL date. Last time Wintersun came I couldn’t go, but this time I will be able to. It will be my second time seeing Fleshgod, too. Hearing of this tour just brightened my night a little 🙂

  8. Maybe the surprise is there’s nothing off Time I in the set!!

  9. I’m used to driving a few hours, one way, to see concerts but come’on now….Detroit gets skipped more by death metal tours than just about any other *large* city. That said, I’m on the fence about this one. Fleshgod is great and Arsis is enjoyable on record, but they are one of the worst live acts I’ve ever seen. Total snooze fest when I saw them open for Exodus about 4-5 years ago.
