Once gain I’m resorting to the round-up format I use when I’ve run out of time to provide my own scintillating commentary about each of the new songs and videos I’ve chosen to throw your way. For the most part, you’ll just have to listen and then imagine how eloquent and evocative I would have been.

In compiling today’s large selection, which is presented in alphabetical order, I had assistance from my colleague DGR. In fact, he recommended six of the 11 items you’ll find here.

ABYSMAL DAWN

This new Abysmal Dawn track, “The Path Of The Totalitarian“, is the second single from the band’s new album Phylogenesis, out April 17th on Season Of Mist.

BONES

This manically exultant and persistently surprising track comes from the new EP, Gate of Night, by the Belgian death metal band Bones, set for release by Blood Harvest on April 24th. This is a real mind-bender, as well as a blood-pumper.

FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE

Up next is the official music video for “Monnalisa”, a song off this Italian band’s latest album Veleno, which is out now on Nuclear Blast.

IGORRR

This track, “PARPAING”, comes from Igorrr’s next album Spirituality and Distortion, and it happens to feature George “Corpsegrinder” Fisher. The album will be released by Metal Blade on March 27th.

PRE-ORDER:

IKU-TURSO

Very easy to get caught up and whirled away by this next track. The multi-faceted “Bellum” is a vicious, cruel, glorious, mystical, and melodically memorable track off the new album by Finland’s Iku-Turso, the name of which is Pakana. It will be released on May 1st.

INCEPTION OF FALL

The following is the electrifying debut EP released by the Czech death metal band Inception of Fall on February 22nd. It has left me black and blue and smiling from ear to ear. Prepare for high-energy bludgeoning onslaughts with lots of technical and progressive flourishes and a knack for insinuating tendrils of exotic and alluring melody. A very impressive first strike.

NITE

Nite, a Bay Area project formed by current and former members of Satan’s Wrath, Dawnbringer, High Spirits, and more, premiered this a song called “Genesis” at DECIBEL. It comes from their impending debut album, Darkness Silence Mirror Flame. The music is heavily influenced by NWOBHM, but with blackened vocals. It will be released by Creator-Destructor on March 20th. Go HERE to check that out. Below you’ll find a video for the first single off the album.

NYREDOLK

I don’t usually include teaser reels in these round-ups, preferring to wait for complete songs, but I’m making an exception. As teasers go, this one for a new EP by the Danish band NyreDolk (entitled Indebrændt) is pretty gripping. It will be released by Strange Aeon Records on March 31.

SYMBOLIK

Symbolik jammed out another premiere late last week, for their song “Corridors Of The Consumed”. Their new album Emergence will be released by The Artisan Era on April 10th.

TYRANT OF DEATH

Objects Of Power” is a new digital single unleashed by Toronto’s Tyrant of Death.

VELNIAS

Velnias have taken their brand of black/folk metal in progressive directions. “Supernal Emergent” is the final song I’ve chosen for today. It feels like vaulting onto the back of a demon horse running headlong in the midst of The Wild Hunt — electrifying, head-spinning, viscerally powerful and jolting, yet packed with interesting instrumental interplay and spellbinding melody. Well worth multiple listens to peel through all its layers. The album, Scion of Aether, will be released by Eisenwald on March 27th.
