Soon, we will light the candles, join hands, and our seance will begin. Your mind’s eye will be opened to visions of the supernatural, entering a realm of wondrous horrors. But the eyes in the front of your head will witness visions of a different but equally wondrous kind.

Our seance takes the form of a fantastic music video, and for this entertainment ovations should be given not only to the maker of the video and the makers of the music but also to the performer who threatens to steal the show.

At this moment, we don’t know who filmed and edited the video, but will add that credit as soon as we find out. The work was beautifully done.

The credit for the music goes to Heads for the Dead, the death metal supergroup consisting of Jonny Pettersson (Wombbath, Gods Forsaken, Henry Kane) on guitars, bass, keys, and FX; vocalist Ralf Hauber (Revel In Flesh); and drummer Ed Warby (Ayreon, ex-Gorefest, ex-Hail of Bullets). What they have created in this song, “The Seance“, is a fucking monster of sound.

That monster is composed of titanic bone-grinding riffs segmented by absolutely pulverizing sledgehammer stomps and infiltrated by paranormal lead-guitar emanations, coupled with horrid howls that erupt in terrifying screams which will strip the flesh from your face. The atmosphere of the music is gruesome and ghastly, crepuscular and cruel, morbid and mad. And the drumming is a fantastic experience all by itself — Ed Warby‘s changing, head-moving grooves and inventive fills are a masterclass in how a talented drummer can enrich a song without being a “show-off”.

And last, but certainly not least, credit must be given to professional pole-dancer Mariia Sue. Apart from the fact that she is absolutely gorgeous, her movements are remarkably fluid, supple, and seductive.

And now that the credits have been given, our seance begins:

“The Seance” comes from Heads for the Dead‘s newest album Into the Red, which is out now on Transcending Obscurity Records. And if you haven’t yet experienced the rest of its wonders, we are including a full stream of it below — and of course links for how to acquire it.
