I have a theory that cool album art tends to correlate with cool music. It’s not always true, of course, but I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve been drawn to the sound of a new album through the artwork on its cover. When I saw the cover that you’re now looking at — which was created for the new album by the Polish/Belarusian band Veld — I was powerless too resist the urge to explore the music. And that turned out to be a very good call.
The album’s name is Daemonic: The Art of Dantalion and it will be released next month by Lacerated Enemy Records. In this post we have the pleasure of premiering for you a lyric video for a song from the album named “World In Obscure”. If you enjoy storming, tyrannical death metal that’s as bludgeoning as it is blisteringly fast, and as alien and exotic as it is physically jolting, this is one you don’t want to miss.
Speed is certainly a noticeable feature of the song — the drumwork sounds like an automatic weapon, and the riffing is smoking hot — but so is the bestiality of the howling vocals, the exotic flair of the melodies, and the swirling machinations of the solos. The song is also accented by all sorts of other strange sounds and passages of absolutely pummeling, pneumatic rhythms.
By the time the song has maneuvered through a variety of twists and turns, all the while unleashing a punishing degree of hostility, the first thing you’ll probably want to do is play it again. It’s hard to take it all in through just one listen, and that’s a good thing.
The album will be released April 8 in a limited-edition six-panel digipack with 20 pages of artwork. It can be ordered in physical form here. Digital pre-orders are available here:

And this is the lyric video for “World In Obscure”:
Awesome, pummeling stuff, roughly matches my mood after slogging through this damn calc pset.
I pride myself on collecting cool album art, and that is one hell of an album cover. And the song is damned good to go with it. Sounds like I wished Behemoth did.
this is crushing! the good kind!! 🙂
This sounds cool as fuck – looking forward to hearing the whole thing. Gotta love the ESL lyrics too.
