July is behind us, and the last month of the summer has begun. Drifting along even more stupidly than usual, I let the first day of the month come and go without posting our usual monthly installment of METAL IN THE FORGE. So, we’re late with this, but I have a feeling no one was holding their breath waiting for it anyway.
You know the drill: In these posts, we collect news blurbs and press releases we’ve seen over the last month about forthcoming new albums from bands we know and like (including occasional updates about releases we’ve included in previous installments of this series), or from bands that look interesting, even though we don’t know their music yet. In this series, we cut and paste those announcements and compile them in alphabetical order.
Remember — this isn’t a cumulative list. If we found out about a new album before July, we wrote about it in previous installments of this series. So, be sure to check the Category link called “Forthcoming Albums” on the right side of this page to see forecasted releases we reported earlier. This month’s list begins right after the jump. Look for your favorite bands, or get intrigued about some new ones. And feel free to tell us about how we fucked up by omitting releases that you’re stoked about.

Can’t wait to see Insomnium live this Fall. Also, this is the first time ever, anywhere that i’ve seen someone write about or even mention Anterior. Liked their first one alot and got some big hopes on their new pancake!
I don’t even remember how I first came across Anterior, or why my iPod includes one and only one Anterior song — “Days of Deliverance”. But I recognized the name when I saw that blurb somewhere.
Hell’s pancakes! I just discovered that Metal Blade premiered a second single (the second?!?) from the new Anterior album this morning. Haven’t heard it yet, but I know what my next post today will be about.
They did? Where can I find this elusive second single?
Patience grasshopper. Working on a post about it right now . . .
I will look forward to it greatly.
Here you go:
Looking forward to some Skeletonwitch, Pathology, and Wolves in the Throne Room if it’s anything like that song on their Facebook. Also gonna give Goreaphobia another chance because the last album was kind of a bore save for like two songs, although I will say it’s probably something wrong with me, not them. Also might look into Leviathan if I can get into Wrest’s music by the time it’s released. I hope Wrest really is innocent.
I didn’t really say why I’m giving Goreaphobia another chance, I just said something about their last album. I’m giving them another chance because the song you posted about on Decibel, and the one posted at MS (I don’t think I’ve heard it in its entirety though) are pretty interesting.
